Defiance, the original authentic Rock-N-Roll band of the 80s with a metal edge, achieved its own personality and gained a large following in Arizona. During the mid 1980s, Defiance original members toured in concert and opened shows for such bands as Broken Toys, Amnesty, Sooth Sayer, Slaughter, Rip & Tear, Sonic Youth among others.
Don LaRose, original founder of the Defiance band, provided strong, emotional lyrics for the band’s music. LaRose perfected his talent as a songwriter and delivered personal overtures to the listener, as if he was singing to the them personally.
Defiance original members consisted of 4: a rhythm guitarist, bassist, drummer, and vocalist LaRose. Setting out as seasoned musicians, they worked together to produce a true rock-n-roll sound which involved a sharp metal edge accompanied with the emotion needed to encapsulate all who listened.
Defiance released its first album in 1987, “Childs Dream”, on cassette recorded at Pantheon Studios of Scottsdale, Arizona. Engineered by Roger Davis and Produced by Ernie Barnard, Jr. Childs Dream was immediately promoted across the airwaves on 98KUPD, KNAC and KZ101, as well as supported by New Times, Soundboard Magazine, Tower Records and other establishments across Arizona.
Childs Dream contained such songs as, “Childs Dream”, “Demon’s Wish”, “Spirits of the Knight”, “Distant star”, among other hard driving hits, all written by originator Don C. LaRose. http://shop.defianceoriginal.com/
Although the original band members were exchanged after the first album was produced, the band continued to develop their unique sound which led them back to the studio and to the second wave and album in 1988-90, “House of Glass”. Songs such as, Smoke N FIre, Lights From Home, House of Glass and others were among many other true-to-life lyrics created by LaRose. The House of Glass album hosts 12 singles, and is also a requested favorite among die hard fans. http://shop.defianceoriginal.com/
